Betrayal, class fantasies, and the Filipino nation in Daly city, is about the Filipino culture in
America to how it relates to the Filipino culture in the Philippines. The geographic focus is
Daly City, CA. Daly City is chosen because it is consider the most concentrated in Filipino
population and it has Filipino immigration history. The one thing I found interesting in Filipino
immigration history is the concept of leaving their country and the concept of staying. Those
left were considered betraying their country and were selfish for wealth and those who
to improve their country were considered heroes. It is also the argument between the class
and jobs in America vs. in the Philippines. Whether or not the immigration to America or the
stay in their country justified. However, if there had been no immigration would there have
the discovery of Filipino Hip Hop and how they were able to make it their own? By allowing
the immigration, Filipinos were able to find a practice they can use to voice out who they are
as a group.
