weapons of the weak and race rebels.

In both readings, there is the matter of power and who has it. In the first reading, from Weapons of the weak, the author writes of power through the experiences of the poor people. The writing about revolution from the past and tying it into more present day issues, allowing for the acknowledgement that the poor are powerless and therefore need a revolution to change the system in order to gain some sense of power. In the other reading from race rebels, it is a very different story, it is a personal one. It represents the lack of knowledge of being oppressed and being powerless through the fact that no one questioned their situations as McDonald's workers. In order to know that you are powerless or oppressed, one first has to question the things we know in life, from there our eyes can open. however there are always those who will see that they are oppressed and yet refuse to either do anything about it or deny that they are oppressed. Both readings surround people who are not in power in their societies. It analyzes the way they deal with being powerless, in the first it was to revolt, in the second they do not realize their powerlessness and they realize later and choose to do something about it. They choose not to ignore their lack of power in society and wrote about their experiences of working in society and being blind to the issues that made them powerless to do things. Power is something everyone wants in life, power can be used for good but in most cases is used for injustices such as this. Power is used to oppress others in order to make those in power feel powerful and to "keep the powerless in their places." Oppression happens because of power, those who have power can oppress and harm those who don't. Most times there isn't a consequences in this abuse of power.
