Love
and Honor and Pity and Pride and Compassion and Sacrifice
In
the article “Love and Honor and Pity and Pride and Compassion and Sacrifice” by
Nam Le, the author first introduces his father arriving on a poor weather and
then addressing their cultural identity of being a Vietnamese. His family decided
to move to Los Angeles seeking a better opportunity for the family. His dad,
along the way, showed many compassion and sacrifices to let his son living comfortably,
including caring him what to eat and whether they sleep well. Later on, the
author addresses discrimination conducted by his friend of harassing him constantly.
His father was a soldier therefore he has limited female friends and was fairly
educated. Somehow, his father is still very influenced by the military life, which
sometimes reminisces their families’ past.
