In Gramsci's notebook, he emphasizes the importance of philosophy and philosophical thinking. He claims that the environment that we are a part of contributes to shaping our actions and thoughts, such as being born into a religious family. In addition, there are many ways religion, common sense, science, and philosophy can manifest. Unity and conformity is necessary for philosophical advancement. Knowledge is also crucial to development and thinking. I agree with the point Foucault is making in his article about truth and power. Knowledge and truth has always been in a close relation to power. For instance, the media has powerful influences on many things due to their ability to relay information. The media can distort the truth or give you different views of the truth, and this easily shifts how the world sees something. In addition, many people are ignorant of this and they just take the information in as they see it. It is important to delve deeper into the truth and give your self more knowledge because the truth is not always what it seems to be or what the media portrays.
