The story looks at the life of a Le as a young man from his point of view when things get difficult between his dad and he goes through a writer's block when writing for his workshop. The Le as a child and his father had many different perspectives and views on life, which eventually splits them apart. Presently in his story, Le is going to college and living on his own and his parents has split. His father comes to visit and things are tense and awkward between them, showing how things have changed now. For instance, he says he could not read his fathers smile anymore. However, while Nam is just trying to get away and overcome his writer's block, his father still shows care and interest his Nam's studies. When Nam got ready to go for a walk and go write, his father prepared to go with him. He also shows that he has read into a little bit of Nam's writings. Nam begins to look talk a little bit about his past with his father, showing how his father was somewhat abusive, but now that hes older, he tries to give reason to his father's actions because Nam believed in forgiving any "sacrifice" by their parents. He continues and eventually explains how he leaves his parents. His mother supports him, but his father thinks otherwise, giving Nam's mother no choice but to leave him as well. Later on, his father tries to get his family back, but Nam at the time is unforgiving. Now, Nam has a wider view on life as well as his father, but rather than looking at the bad his father has done, Nam looks more into what his father has done for the family. In the end, Nam finds that his father is not the person Nam used to think he was, and I believe that he is finally able to forgive his father and love him again.
