Truth is a Virus & Electronic Disturbance
In recent years, the internet has become a defining part of our society, individual lives, and cultures. this transforms everything, especially the political landscape. In Truth is a Virus, memes are used to make comments about current politics. I think that memes have replaced political cartoons as a way to inform people about politics. Memes are widespread, entertaining, and accessible for all. They present a more vague message that appeals to this generation's humor. Though it does not contain as much information as political cartoons do, it assumes that people who consume memes knows about current political situations because of how fast news break on the internet. Memes appear almost instantaneously after events, unlike political cartoons. Anyone is able to make memes, for any political views. Hence, memes have essentially replaced political cartoons. That being said, political movements have increasingly gained power online because the internet connects people from different locations instantaneously, thus making everything easier to communicate and meet.
