The Merchants of the cool is a video that gives an inside of teens obsession to be cool. It states that teens feel the need to constantly be trending and at the center of pop culture. There are special organizations that go on "hunts" to survey what teens are currently wearing. They take pictures (not creepy hehehe) and post them to a website where they charge companies to view these pictures. This video displays how companies capitalize off of subcultures, etc. Midriff girls are also mentioned in the video. These young girls are over sexualized at young ages and it is seen as a normal thing. Girls come to the convention and spend thousands of dollars to become stars and some are not sought after by agencies.
