Betrayal, Class Fantasies, and Filipino Nation in Daly City

Daly City is known as one of the most established Filipino communities. In the article, Vegara talks about how important it is to understand the history of the Filipino culture and how it was developed -- -- particularly in Daly City.  Similarly, San Jose is known as one of the most established Vietnamese communities. Growing up in San Jose, I did not really understand the history of the Vietnamese people because we were never taught about it in primary school. However, my parents did enroll me into Vietnamese school where I learned more about the Vietnamese culture, language, and history.

At a young age, I learned how to read, write, and speak Vietnamese because I was enrolled in Vietnamese school. I was able to learn more about where my parents and grandparents came from and what made San Jose, San Jose. San Jose acts as home for many Vietnamese people not only because of its food, but its rich culture that many Vietnamese people brought when they immigrated to the United States. Conversely, Daly City is the "adobo-capital" as it reflects the Filipino's colors and nationality.
