Weapons of the Weak, Race Rebels

Both of these texts show how important passive resistance is. Although passive resistance is insignificant alone, it can create much effect if done in large numbers. Getting as many people to join passive resistance as possible is a powerful tool in undermining systems of oppression. It is also important because those who passively resist will not have to risk their livelihood or lives to fight against oppression, making it an appealing option for all.

Passive resistance also gives personal satisfaction. The small, petty ways of resistance that people can get away with is fun. In "Race Rebels", the McDonald's employees that resist bad working conditions and low wage by petty means seem to have a lot of fun doing it. Even though it does not improve their condition in drastic ways, they still compensate some of it by enjoying themselves.
