Cambodian Refugees and Aoki

In the reading, the Cambodian refugees come from a country that is under the control of a brutal regime. they come to america to escape the fate which has happened to many within the country. However since 9/11 times, they have been increasingly deported because of a hate against people who are south Asian or middle eastern. this discrimination caused by fear, stops people from achieving  freedom in which they seek. it stops people who come here looking for a better life and to get help and away from a torn country. The communities fight this notion of deportation, they ask their congresswoman to help them fight back on this deportation of their people. In the Aoki movie. he brings up the story of Richard Aoki, a civil rights activist and movement leader. he lived in interment camps, he faced a life of hardships and now his history teaches people so that the world doesn't forget what happened to the Japanese people in the US during world war two. his life also brings to light the participation of Asian Americans in the civil rights movements and how they are treated in America. other speakers such Yuri Kochiyama also speak on what his goals are in life and in the movements, she also speaks of his character.
