Deporting
Cambodian Refugees For May 2nd
In
the article, the author was addressing the awareness of refugees immigrants, particular
with Cambodians. AYPAL stands for, Asian/ Pacific Islander Youth Promoting Advocacy
and Leadership, and the group’s main mission is to promote and protect some
interests that some minority Asian American groups have. Yet, with the pass of immigration
Act 1996 signed by Clinton, many refugees, after living in America for a while,
may face deportation if they commit a crime in America. This is very outraging
since many of them have had adapted to the life in America and do not wish to
be sent to “home” country. There are some campaigns promoted by AYPAL’s program
is to connect young people with their heritage and this creates transnationalism
communication. Mexicans by no means have the largest number in deportation. Also, there are many "block parties" hosted by AYPAL showing "No deportation" on the sign. Through AYPAL advocacy in making youth to be more aware of deportation issue, younger Asian minority immigrants will have a sense of belonging in being accepted in America.
