Indo Chic
Westerners have capitalized the South Asian culture and commercialized it to make profit. This has made the South Asian culture more popular and well known, however the commercialization of the culture has led to a lack of knowledge behind traditions such as henna. Although I am for the diffusion of culture, I do not like how important values of the traditions are lost in the process. It may look aesthetically pleasing on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest, but what was the purpose of the art if we do not understand the beauty behind it?
