Vietnam Idol

This article talks about how the Vietnamese took and incorporated ideas from the American TV show, American Idol. The show, Vietnam Idol, mimicked ideas from American Idol rather than making it their own; it seems rather forced instead of enjoyable. Growing up, I have watched shows on the Vietnamese channel similar to Vietnam Idol. A lot of trends are incorporated into the shows from Japan, Korea, America, and Europe, but trends or cultural ideas from Vietnam seem lost. I might just be openly stating my ideas in this blog post, but Vietnam is really trying hard to be included in the circle of developed countries - incorporating ideas that are not really their own when it comes to music, shows, fashion, etc. It breaks my heart that a lot of Vietnamese culture is lost in the process.
