In this article, the author describes how Vietnam was isolated before, and how they are trying to re-culture themselves. Vietnam Idol is a television show which shows the biases that exist in their culture. This television shows compared to American Idol, and the different behaviors are shown. Vietnams version of the show shows their following of other cultures. The differences show how different different cultures are, for example the Vietnamese Idol show is less polar in their country because people have different preferences for pastimes and viewings. Vietnam is considered as a culture that is "behind" because they are not as progressive as others, and they are still trying to define their culture.
