This article readdress the issue that pop culture poses on "traditional" culture. They discuss similar issues that the Stuart Hall discusses where pop culture displays a type of resistance while also produced on the basis of capitalism. This is portrayed in the example of 'Vietnam Idol' which the author says "enables the movement from 'age of the world picture' to 'post-mechanical' view of the world as a 'global' village. But also discusses transnationalism. He states that because Viet Nam was influenced by the Euro-American culture there is a disassociation between Viet Nam and the as the author calls it "vietnameseness".
