In Kurup's article, he includes several monologues showcasing many situations which Asian Americans have conflict with their own culture and the new western culture they face. The face the difficulty of trying to assimilate the new western culture without losing their own. His family find many things enjoyable and easy to adapt too, but they also find things which find dislike in. In Lowe's article, she claims that the grouping of Asian Americans is a socially constructed unity due to specific situations. Cultural identity depends on the position and circumstances we are in. Overall, we all my come from different circumstances and act differently at certain times, like as Lowe describes as hybridity and multiplicity. However, in the end all the the efforts of not just Asian Americans but also other groups of color and classes, all conform into one hegemonic effort.
