The internet proves to be a very helpful outlet and learning device for many gay and lesbian people within the South Asian area of the world. These websites were created in San Francisco and are heavily used by these people to meet more people similar to them. I think it is a great idea and seems to be very useful for these people who need help. I think the best part is that they can access it within the comfort of their own homes which is perfect if they haven’t come out to the world yet.
Kelly and tony are engaged at 17yrs old. They met at the beginning of senior year. She got pregnant within 3 months of dating. I think this reflects the poverty of the area. Most public schools are required to give sex education and it seems like Kelly either never got this education, or ignored it. I doubt that she would ignore something like that because it seemed like she strived to work really hard in high school (and ended up graduating with Honors). Kelly seems very stubborn against mien culture. She refused to drink the traditional ginger tea after giving birth. This shows that she didn’t want to be like her mother. However, her mother also had children at a young age, and was married at 16.
I think Tony took advantage of Kelly’s life. Yes all these acts were consensual and it seems like Kelly does love Tony, but I feel like she can do so much better. It pained me to watch this documentary and I can only hope for their family.
