Laotian daughters analysis

Bindi V. Shah-

The article discusses the struggles that immigrant Laotian women experience particularly the stress and alienation place upon them by their family and culture. American women are oppressed within this country enough as it is, immigrant woman have to deal with double the oppression. As the author states "Laotian women restricted on their autonomy, mobility, and decision- making". Their decision-making is particularly restricted when it comes to marriage and sexual relations. These women have unrealistic expectations set up for them by their families as well.
