Kelly love tony and mobile cultures
in class, we watched the movie, kelly loves tony. this movie views a young couple who have a child and just graduated high school. they live in the bay area and are Laotian. the movie documents their every day lives and it is clear to see the different gender rules with in the Laotian communities. the girl kelly is expected to stay home because she has a baby and is expected to marry tony. tony is expected to work and has a chance to be deported. his family is supposed to plan their wedding and her family is only supposed to give her over to them. while the families are shown t not say anything about kelly going to college, tony asks her why she wants to go to college now and not when the baby is older. kelly is worried that tony will get deported. so it seems like the females are supposed to be more worried in the culture than the men. the article also works with gender roles. this is because in some LGBTQ communities, gender roles are different, this compared to Asian cultures can cause a clash in the communities. the mix between these communities depending on the community, can cause problems in some communities. that is because the gender roles can be reversed and gender roles as seen in kelly and tony carries over generations in other countries. gender roles are pretty predominate in certain Asian cultures
