assimilation and immigration acts

assimilation into a culture is different for every person. for some people, the assimilation is really easy but for some it is incredibly hard or sad. the younger generation tends to assimilate a lot easier than the older generation, however the younger generation will have issue such as not having a true identity to relate with and sometimes will want to look like the culture such as blue eyes in white culture. this can lead to insecurity in younger generations, having the children think that they arent beautiful because they do not look white or lighter. Assimilation can be hard for the older generations because they will feel separated from the White culture, they will feel that they are not welcome in that culture due to their culture or their skin tone and looks. this gives the fact that assimilation is hard. in the text there is a reference of a child wanting blue eyes and telling their family in their Thai restaurant. this make the family be sad because their child wants something that they cant have. this shows that while assimilating the family feels what it is like to be discriminated over looks while assimilating to a culture that is much different from their own.
